The Costa Blanca

Torre de la Horadada

The Costa Blanca, on the Southeast coast of Spain, has around 170 miles of coastline and stretches from Valencia in the north to La Manga in the South, with Alicante roughly half way distant. The resort of Benidorm is famous for its family package holidays and this is around 35Km north of Alicante.

The countryside here varies from mountainous and rocky in the north of the Costa Blanca, to flat, but very fertile land in the south and inland. It is from this area that many of Spain's famous oranges come from, especially the province of Valencia in the northern part of the Costa Blanca.

The Costa Blanca Climate

The Costa Blanca has a great climate, with around 300 days of sunshine a year, an average temperature of 18 degrees and whilst people are freezing in -4 degrees in the UK, you can actually be sunbathing in December!

Fiestas

The Costa Blanca has numerous fiestas and whatever time of year, you will likely be able to find a fiesta occurring somewhere, be warned however that many shops close during fiesta days, so make sure you have stocked up on food and drink (although you will of course be able to eat and drink out).

Traditions

The Costa Blanca area of Spain has two traditional dances, the Jota Valenciana and the Jota Murcia, from Valencia and Murcia respectively. A jota is a dance performed individually or in pairs and has influenced many other forms of Spanish dance, including flamenco. Variations of this dance style are performed in countries such as the Phillippines.

Recreation

With such a long coastline on the Costa Blanca, it is little surprise to know that there are more than enough beaches to go around. But the Costa Blanca has become a Mecca for water sports, particularly in the mar Menor to the south. There are numerous Marinas and ports here for you to moor your own boat. Scuba diving has also become an important past-time for holidaymakers.

Golf in the Costa Blanca

Golf has become one of the most popular recreational activities in the Costa Blanca, with numerous golf courses being built in the past few years. For now, we will be concentrating on some well established, and high quality, courses within a relatively small area of the Costa Blanca, near Orihuela, Torrevieja and Murcia. New courses are being built in this area all the time, near places like Campoverde and Sucina, making this the current hotspot for golf in Spain.

Our current selection of golf courses in Spain's Costa Blanca is:

  • VillaMartin - A world-class glf course that has hosted the Spanish Open.
  • La Finca - A world-class course, opened in 1992.
  • Campoamor - 3 golf courses near a spectacular mansion-style hotel.
  • Las Ramblas - A golf course designed around water hazards.

We will be adding more courses throughout 2006, so watch this site.

Golf Investments in the Costa Blanca

Many companies are building dedicated golf courses with attached properties. Properties here can be overpriced however, selling themselves on the unique aspect of being on-site. There tends also to be a limited choice of property type.

Better value and choice can be had by buying a Spanish property directly from a builder, through specialists such as Principal Investment Properties, who have direct access to numerous builders. This not only ensures that you get choice, from sea front apartments to detached villas, but you also get a much better price for your property and the flexibility to change the design of the property as you require.
